The band is very grateful to local organisations that have provided financial grants to support us over the last year.

The Thornbury Lions.

The Thornbury Lions provided funding which allowed the band to purchase a set of A4 hymn books containing over 120 Hymns which we used for the first time at the Tytherington Remembrance service in November 2025

Thornbury Town Council.

During 2025 we were fortunate and grateful to receive a small grant award from the Thornbury Town Council which provided some funding towards a new uniform. The award enabled us to buy a set of new ties for the Band and contribute towards the purchase of new waistcoats.

This small grant award enables all players to have the same uniform thus achieving the goal to smarten the look of the Band. We are also now able to provide guest players with uniforms so that the band performance has a consistent and smarter look.

Thornbury Town Band – We are excited to announce our first concert in 6 years! The band will be playing a wide variety of classical and pop music, plus themes from shows and films.

The concert is on 4th October 2025, St James’ Church Tytherington at 7.30pm. Doors open at 7:00 pm.

Tickets are £10 each and include a glass of wine & nibbles, available from Tytherington Village Shop, or John Williams (01454 412515).

The band has welcomed 6 new players on cornets, baritone and euphonium since the last update. This is great news but we do still have vacancies and would welcome more players. We have 23 players on our books.

We have  got a number of jobs lined up for 2025. We have been rehearsing and look forward to playing out in public.  The first job is on 26th April at Yate Heritage centre.

So far we have the following jobs scheduled in 2025:

26/04/25 – Yate Heritage Centre, St George’s Day. Playing 11am – 11.30am & 12.30pm – 1pm.

05/05/25 – Tytherington – May Day Fair. Times TBC  1.30pm – 3.30pm.

10/05/25 – VE Day celebrations, Thornbury. Times TBC approx. 10 – 10:45  and 11 –  11:30

12/07/25 – Wallace and Gromit. St Marys Centre Thornbury 11 – 13:00

26/07/25 – Beech House Care Home Fete in Thornbury. Times  approx 2pm – 4pm.

04/10/25 – Tytherington Concert. Times TBC, likely to start play at 7.30pm.

09/11/25 – Tytherington, Remembrance Sunday. 10am.

 

There are other jobs  in the pipeline  so watch this space.

During 2024 the band has once again played at many local events in Yate, Tytherington and Thornbury. We continue to work co-operatively with other local brass bands assisting each other with players when needed and are very grateful for their help.

We are now approaching a very busy time of the year when we will be carolling and playing Christmas music around the area.  You can see us at the Mall Cribbs Causeway, Asda and in Thornbury at the lights switch on, The Swan, Tesco and the Farmers Market – see the event information for more details.

We are always grateful for the organisations and public who support us at these events.

This year we have welcomed a few players into our ranks but we are still actively trying to recruit more players to join us. You may have seen adverts in the local press e.g. Thornbury Magazine and Thornbury Voice, in posters and on social media.

The band performed at the first “Love Thornbury” event in  September 2023 and also at the annual Royal British Legion Remembrance service at Tytherington in November 2023.

We continued to work with other local brass bands throughout the year in helping each other out with deps for various events when needed and are grateful to other local bands for helping us in 2023.

In December we did a variety of Christmas carolling events at the Mall Cribbs Causeway and Thornbury including the Swan, Tesco, Farmers Market and are grateful for the organisations and public who supported us.

The band is actively trying to recruit more players to join us in 2024 and to schedule events for 2024. We have placed adverts in the local press including the Thornbury Magazine and  Thornbury Voice and posters have been placed in organisations around Thornbury. Also we have been active on social media.

We are looking forward to performing at the ” Love Thornbury” event in September and will be preparing for The Tytherington Remembrance Day service.

The band is beginning to plan a number of Christmas carolling engagements in and around the Thornbury area.
